Verizon Wireless plans to eliminate its $30 per month unlimited data plan that it provides to customers who subscribed to the plan prior to the company’s transition to tiered data plans last July , Fierce Wireless reported on Wednesday.

Verizon shared data plans are due in mid-summer, target users with multiple devices

On a call discussing Verizon’s Q1 earnings report , CFO Francis Shammo has once again touched on the company’s promised shared data plans , targeting their launch in mid-summer. He also noted that he expected this to drive growth in the wireless business, because the plan is apparently designed to allow customers to easily add “other devices” to it

Verizon Wireless to conduct LTE spectrum sale

Verizon Wireless is planning to conduct an open sale of all of its 700 MHz A and B spectrum licenses in an effort to rationalize its spectrum holdings. The carrier obtained the 700 MHz A and B licenses — as well as a nationwide 700 MHz upper C license, which is currently used for its 4G LTE service — in an  auction through the Federal Communication Commission . Verizon is in the midst of acquiring additional Advanced Wireless Services (AWS) spectrum licenses  that it plans to use in conjunction with its 700 MHz upper C spectrum to deploy additional LTE markets, and this proposed 700MHz A and B sale will only be conducted if Verizon’s AWS acquisition is successful.

Pantech FCC filing hints at LTE Breakout successor for Verizon Wireless

We’ve just stumbled across a subtle hint from the FCC that suggests the Pantech Breakout will need to watch its back from now on — it seems there’s a successor in the pipeline. The Korean manufacturer just passed a new LTE handset through the regulatory agency with support for Verizon’s particular flavor of 4G.

Verizon to add 27 new 4G LTE markets, expand in 47 others this week

Verizon Wireless on Tuesday announced plans to bring its 4G LTE network to 27 new markets on Thursday and expand its service in 47 existing markets. The additional markets bring Verizon’s total coverage to 230 4G LTE markets across the United States, covering nearly two-thirds on the nation’s population. By the end of 2012, the carrier plans to have its LTE service available in more than 400 markets  covering more than 260 million Americans

Time Warner and Verizon begin selling bundled packages just to annoy regulators

Verizon’s special relationship with the cable houses deepened yesterday as it started to sell bundled mobile and land-line packages with Time Warner Cable , like it does with Comcast . Residents in various parts of Ohio, Kansas City and Raleigh, North Carolina can sign up and receive a $200 prepaid debit card as a reward for their custom. However, the partnership is raising regulatory concerns about Big Red’s business practices, with the Justice Department weighing up if they’re anti-competitive
